The Edinburg Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on Monday. The accident occurred at the 2200 block of South Jackson Road at around 9:14 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. A black truck had veered into the southbound lanes of the highway. This resulted in the vehicle coming into the path of a grey minivan and colliding.
Three people were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan, identified as 50-year-old Luz Aurora Casado, her mother, 68-year-old Maria Guadalupe Zavala Casado, and her daughter, 2-year-old Elleiana Santoy.
The driver of the pickup truck is in critical condition. He has been identified as 46-year-old Sheng Li Jiang. Officials report that he will be facing charges for this fatal crash.
