A fatal crash in Southeast Austin claimed the lives of three adults early Sunday morning, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. The incident occurred near the Giga Tesla factory when the vehicle plummeted from a Texas 130 overpass onto Tesla Road, landing on its roof.
Emergency responders arrived before 2:40 a.m. and extricated the three occupants, who were tragically declared dead at the scene by 3:28 a.m. Law enforcement officials closed the road for several hours following the crash.
By 10 a.m. Sunday, the road had reopened, as confirmed by the Texas Department of Transportation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the motor vehicle accident and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
