According to the New Mexico State Police, a fatal crash was reported on Friday in Lovington. Officials confirmed that three persons died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on U.S. Route 82. A car was travelling in the wrong direction when it was struck head-on by a pickup truck. The driver of the car was identified as 24-year-old Miguel Angel Delacruz. The driver of the pickup truck was named as 74-year-old Emigdio Montano.
Montano, Delacruz and another passenger in the car were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. A passenger in the truck was rushed to the hospital sustaining serious injuries.
Other details pertaining to the collision are yet to be released. The crash continues to be investigated by the NMSP.
