On Sunday, three people lost their lives after the vehicle they were in slammed into a traffic pole in Richland.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the intersection of George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that a car smashed into a traffic pole near George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue. Officials reported that the car was sheared in half due to the impact. There were four people in the vehicle. Three occupants suffered major injuries and were declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The fourth victim was rushed to a local area hospital in stable condition, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Authorities believe that alcohol might have contributed to the accident. RPD Detectives were requested to the scene to provide assistance. The identities of the victims have not been revealed. No other details are made available.
The incident remains under investigation.
