On Thursday evening, three teens suffered injuries following a DUI crash near Lacey.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place on Interstate 5, north of milepost 114 in Thurston County not far from Lacey at about 5:20. The early reports showed that a gray 2005 Acura was traveling on Interstate 5, north of milepost 114 on the right shoulder when the driver went over all lanes of traffic, drifted off the roadway and came to a stop on the shoulder.
There were four Centralia teens in the vehicle, including an 18-year-old boy driver, 16-year-old and 17-year-old male passengers, along with an 18-year-old girl. All three of the boys suffered injuries in the accident but the girl was said to be fine. Authorities shut down portion of the highway for approximately eight hours. The driver is facing vehicular assault and DUI charges. No further details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
