The Georgia State Patrol Trooper shut down Hollowell Parkway in Atlanta following a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday.

A driver failed to stop at a traffic stop on 1-20 conducted by the troopers, which led to the chase.

The Troopers lost a visual of the driver as he sped up and exited onto Donald Lee Hollowell.

GSP spokesperson reported that the fleeing vehicle rear-ended a Toyota Camry and a tractor-trailer before striking the concrete median and overturning.

The 32-year-old driver ran eastbound into the woods and was later spotted on Harwell Road and was taken into custody. He was charged with DUI, reckless driving, fleeing, severe injuries by vehicle, seatbelt, and improper lane change.

The Toyota Camry passenger, three adults, and a two-year-old were injured. The child was treated at Scottish Rite Hospital.

The highway was shut down following the crash and reopened around 1:45 p.m.
