29-year-old Vivek Iyer dead after being hit by a vehicle on I-285 (Cobb County, GA)

On Friday morning, 29-year-old Vivek Iyer lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 285.

The fatal incident took place when the driver of a Tesla lost control and crashed on I-285 at about 4:35 a.m. The driver, Vivek Iyer, then left his car and entered the travel lanes. Shortly after, a Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed into the Tesla, and a Toyota Rav4 SUV rear-ended the Dodge, which caused the Rav4 to hit Iyer, who was still in the travel lanes.

On arrival, officials declared Iyer dead. The northbound lanes were blocked for hours during investigation process. Authorities also closed Cobb Parkway at I-285 southbound and northbound ramps to allow traffic to exit off I-285 NB. All roads and lanes reopened just after 8:30 a.m.

The accident remains under active review.
