The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened in a private property close to Sutherland Dam Rd, east of Ramona at around 3 p.m.
According to CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber, the 29-year-old rider attempted a jump but failed to land properly, causing the motorcycle to appear to fall on top of them.
The emergency personnel continued CPR until the rider was declared dead at about 3:40 p.m. The name and identity of the victim have not been made public yet.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will look into the fatal crash and related death because it happened on private property owned by motocross rider Axell Hodges, who was born and raised in Encinitas. It is frequently used for motocross training as well as some X Games competitions.
