The California Highway Patrol said that a man was killed in a motor vehicle accident at Pescadero State Beach. Later the victim was identified as 29-year-old Nicolas Laron Vargas of Watsonville.
At around 9:55 p.m., a Kia travelling westbound on Pescadero Creek Road at a high speed fell off the cliff. The vehicle then fell 100 feet onto the beach.
The passenger present in the vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have not disclosed if the driver of the vehicle was injured nor the extent of the injuries incurred.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
