A fatal crash occurred in northeast Houston, resulting in the death of one driver. The multi-vehicle accident happened at the 200 block of McCarty Street at Portwall Street, close to the I-610 North Loop, around 6:40 a.m.
According to the Houston Police Department, a white tractor-trailer truck, with its left turn signal on to make a turn, was stopped in the southbound lanes of McCarty when a blue Ford F-150 collided with the back of the cab. The Ford caught fire, but a passerby extinguished the flames.
The 29-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed and was questioned and released. The Ford driver, a 29-year-old man, was critically injured and was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the man has not been disclosed at this time.
