The Pinal County Sheriff’s Department had previously reported a hit-and-run accident in Arizona City last Wednesday. The accident occurred on Battaglia Drive, near Yucatan Road between 5-5:40 a.m.
According to the officials, a bicycle and a vehicle were involved in a collision. The bicycle was headed west when it was hit by a white SUV.
The bicyclist was critically injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The officials have since identified the victim as 29-year-old James Kemp.
The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before the police could arrive. The fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
