In the early hours of Saturday morning, 29-year-old Damian Avila lost his life in a fatal car crash, as identified by the Temple Police Department. Around 3:26 a.m. on December 30, officers responded to the scene on South 31st St., near Sleepy Hollow Lane.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the crash. The vehicle was headed down the road when the driver lost control and went off the road. This caused it to crash into a tree. The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported, although fragments of the vehicle were propelled into a nearby residence. Presently, one southbound lane on South 31st St. is closed, while one northbound lane remains open.
The motor vehicle accident is still being investigated.
