The woman who lost her life in a head-on multi-vehicle accident on the Byron Highway in East Contra Costa County has been identified as 29-year-old Antoinette Thompson-Scott of Oakland, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred when a white Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a grey Kia sedan. Unfortunately, Thompson-Scott, the driver of the sedan, was not wearing a seat belt and was fatally injured. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet were injured and transported to a trauma center, with no updates provided on their conditions. The occupants of a Hyundai Elantra and a Humvee, hit by debris from the fatal crash, were uninjured. Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
