A fatal crash occurred on Christmas Day near Groom, resulting in one person’s death. The multi-vehicle accident involved two semi trucks, with the first one travelling west on I-40 and the second semi stopped on the shoulder.
For reasons unknown, the driver of the first semi veered onto the shoulder and collided with the left rear of the second semi’s trailer. The front right side and cab of the first semi sustained significant damage.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Abdi Faisal of Georgia, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second semi escaped injury. The circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation.
