A fatal crash claimed the life of a 28-year-old woman early Monday morning as her vehicle veered off Ghent Road, striking a concrete sign. The incident took place at around 6:25 a.m. on the 300 block of Ghent Road. 

A Chevrolet Equinox traveled south before veering off the left side of the road and colliding with the sign. Though the Chevy ignited under the hood, the fire subsided swiftly, as reported by authorities. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have ruled out alcohol and excessive speed as contributing factors but continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
