On Wednesday, 28-year-old Ryan Albertson, of Madison, Missouri lost his life while another suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in LaPlace.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash was reported just after 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Hwy 61 at Windsor Boulevard in St. John Parish. The early reports showed that Albertson was westbound on Windsor Boulevard in a Pontiac G6 while a Kenworth T880 was northbound on U.S. Hwy 61. At some point of time, the Pontiac ignored a traffic control signal and entered into the northbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 61 directly in front of the Kenworth. The Kenworth then crashed into the driver’s side of the Pontiac.
Both Albertson and the passenger of the Pontiac were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Albertson suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The passenger of the Pontiac received serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The driver of the Kenworth was buckled up and remained uninjured. Impairment is not believed to be involved, but standard toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. No other details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
