28-year-old man injured after a fiery crash in Houghton County (Schoolcraft Township, MI)

A 28-year-old man received injuries after a traffic collision Thursday night in Houghton County.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at 8:05 p.m. on Gay Road, just west of Winterhaven Road. The preliminary reports showed that a 28-year-old man from Belleville, Michigan was driving east on Gay Road. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle following which it veered off the right side of the road, but got back on the road.

The vehicle then crossed the center line, entered the westbound lane, and then swerved off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck multiple trees, came to a halt and the vehicle caught fire. On arrival, first responders rushed the man to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in unknown condition. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the collision. No other information is available.

The crash is under investigation.
