The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday evening. The accident happened at Holt and Clark Avenue at around 11:50 p.m.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and police, Herrera was a passenger in a sedan being driven by a man who was taken to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
28-year-old Jocelyn Herrera passed away there. The other sedan’s driver was unharmed.
The sedan being driven by the injured man may have been racing another car before the collision, according to witness statements, but police have not confirmed that information. The fatal crash inquiry is still ongoing.
