The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a two-vehicle crash on Monday.
The accident occurred on Interstate 20, near mile marker 126 at around 6:38 p.m.
According to the officials, a Toyota Corolla was heading east when it hit the rear of a semi-truck.
The driver of the Corolla, identified as 27-year-old Perry Whitley Edwards, incurred critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the accident.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
There are no other details available at this time.
