Early Sunday morning, a tragic wrong-way collision occurred on Loop 101 in Glendale. It resulted in one fatality and seven individuals sustaining injuries. The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified the deceased as 27-year-old Felix Perez from Jurupa Valley, California.
The multi-vehicle accident transpired around 3:46 a.m. on the northbound lanes of State Route 101, between West Thunderbird and West Bell roads. Before the fatal crash, troopers received multiple reports of a pickup truck travelling in the wrong direction.
The subsequent head-on collision involved the wrong-way vehicle and a recreational tour bus, which had seven occupants. Perez, the sole occupant of the pickup, succumbed to his injuries.
A passenger from the tour bus was ejected and transported to the hospital, while the others received varying degrees of medical attention.
