In the early hours of Saturday, tragedy struck on Interstate 35 in San Antonio. A wrong-way driver, a 25-year-old man, caused a fatal crash, killing a woman and injuring three others. The multi-vehicle accident unfolded shortly after 2 a.m. near West Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
The man, driving south in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with another vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Yulissa Cristal Valero, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver sustained multiple injuries but is reported to be in good condition, while a backseat passenger remains in critical condition. The 25-year-old wrong-way driver was arrested for DWI/intoxication assault, according to San Antonio police, underscoring the devastating consequences of impaired driving.
