A fatal chain-reaction crash occurred on Interstate 40 in Wheeler County, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The multi-vehicle accident unfolded about four miles east of Shamrock.
A pickup towing a trailer jack-knifed, leading to the closure of both westbound lanes. As a line of stopped traffic formed, a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia truck failed to control speed. This started a chain reaction involving three other semi-trailers.
The driver of the 2023 Freightliner, identified as Parampreet Singh Deol, 26, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash.
One passenger sustained serious injuries, while the other three drivers suffered minor to moderate injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
