The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident on Friday.
The accident occurred in the area of Severin Drive on Interstate 9, near Grossmont Center mall, shortly before 11 a.m.
According to the officials, a passenger had tumbled out of an Audi A4 he was riding in and had been run over by a tractor-trailer.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending the notification of his family.
It is not known why the victim had fallen out of the car.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated.
It is not known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
There are no other details available at the moment.
