A tragic fatal crash occurred on Amarillo Boulevard West and Tennessee Street, involving a Chevrolet Suburban and a Nissan Sedan. On December 29 at 3:51 p.m., Amarillo Police responded to the major crash, finding both vehicles with heavy damage.

The Suburban, heading westbound, collided with the eastbound Nissan, driven by 26-year-old Kaylaa Kirkland, at a high speed. Kirkland lost control, sliding sideways into oncoming traffic, resulting in a fatal impact on the passenger side.

Kirkland was critically injured and was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the Suburban’s driver sustained serious injuries.

The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad continues to investigate this tragic multi-vehicle accident.
