Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon in Glendale as 26-year-old Justin Syphurs lost his life in a fatal collision with a car. Around 5:15 p.m., a woman was driving west on Peoria Avenue when she struck Syphurs, who was crossing mid-block near 43rd and Peoria avenues.
Despite a prompt response, Syphurs was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash. Glendale police have determined that neither speed nor impairment played a role in the pedestrian accident, and no citation has been issued.
The area remained closed for several hours as detectives conducted their investigation into this devastating incident. The officials have not disclosed if the woman involved was injured in any way. The accident is still being investigated.
