Edinburg Police Department stated that a deadly crash had taken place at the intersection of Trenton Road and Closner Boulevard in Edinburg on Sunday at about 2:09 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers observed that a white Chevrolet Silverado had struck a white BMW passenger car.
Investigations into the motor vehicle accident revealed that the driver of the Chevrolet, Juan Pablo Torres, disobeyed the red signal at the intersection and struck the BMW soon after.
The driver of the BMW, identified as 26-year-old Adrienne Ann Garza was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Another passenger in the vehicle was also transported to the hospital. Their present condition remains unknown.
Torres was arrested under suspicion of drunk driving.
He was arraigned Sunday afternoon, and his bond totaled $1,525,000 — $1 million for intoxication manslaughter, $500,000 for intoxication assault and $25,000 for unlawful carrying of a weapon.
