The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle crash in Buckeye on Monday morning. The accident happened at around 6:30 a.m.
Alfonso Martinez Jr., 25, was traveling west on Turner Road when he struck a woman head-on while traveling east on Baseline Road. According to deputies, the collision also involved a third vehicle.
Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital urgently, and her condition is critical. The third car’s driver was unharmed.
Authorities are still looking into what caused the collision. However, they’re investigating whether the fatal crash might have been caused by speed, intoxication, or distraction.
