The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Vancouver on Wednesday night. The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of State Route 14, near milepost 5, at around 9:40 p.m.
According to the officials, three vehicles were involved in a collision. A 2007 Volvo S40 was headed the wrong way in the westbound lanes when it hit a 2009 Mazda MX. The vehicle kept going and then hit a 2022 Volkswagen Passat before crashing into a 2007 Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Volvo was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 25-year-old Ryan M. Smith. Two others were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. There are no other details available.
