According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in San Clemente. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the multi-vehicle accident. Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Interstate 5.
The driver of a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup, lost control of the truck and collided with a 25-year-old woman driving a 2016 Honda Civic. The truck then overturned and two of its wheels flew across the lanes and struck a 2019 Toyota Prius. Another car, a 2021 Prius hit the overturned truck.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Other details pertaining to the wreck including the identity of the victim remain unknown. The cause of the accident is believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
