A tragic motor vehicle accident unfolded on Loop 20, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The harrowing series of events began when a pickup truck lost control near Lake Casa Blanca, crashing into a pole and blocking the southbound lanes.
Good Samaritans rushed to aid the trapped occupant when a Chevy Corvette, failing to brake, collided with the truck and those rendering assistance, igniting a fire upon impact. Tragically, 25-year-old Kassandra Lozano, a passenger in the Corvette, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Laredo and San Antonio. In response, city officials vowed to enhance safety measures on Loop 20, including increased enforcement of speed limits and cellphone usage. The Laredo Police Department is actively investigating the fatal crash.
