On Thursday, 25-year-old Andrew Avalos, a Ceres man, lost his life following a three-vehicle accident on Kiernan Avenue.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash happened at about 4 a.m.  The preliminary reported showed that a westbound Honda Sedan slowed for a red light at Tully Road. Just then, the vehicle behind it, a 1973 Datsun coupe, driven by Avalos, did not slowdown in time and crashed into the Honda from behind.

After the initial crash, another westbound vehicle failed to stop in time and collided with the Datsun from behind. Avalos was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. On arrival, paramedics rushed him to Doctors Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. Officials believed that he sustained life-threatening injuries in the first crash. The drivers of the other two vehicles remained uninjured.

An investigation continues.
