The Clovis Police Department reported a hit-and-run accident in Clovis on January 1. The accident occurred on 14th Street and Sycamore Street around midnight.
According to the officials, the victim was found lying face down in a field. He was rushed to a medical centre for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Matthew Gibbs.
The vehicle that hit Gibbs fled the scene before authorities could arrive. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
