24-Year-Old Man Killed In A Multi-Vehicle Accident In Kings County (Kings County, CA)

A tragic wrong-way crash claimed the life of a 24-year-old driver in Kings County on Sunday morning. At around 2 a.m., 37-year-old David Barajas was driving a Ford F-250 in the No.1 lane eastbound on Highway 198. 

At the same time, 63-year-old Steven Mahoney was driving a Kia Soul in the No. 2 lane. A 24-year-old man was driving a Toyota Corolla in the wrong direction and collided head-on with Barajas. This resulted in a fiery multi-vehicle accident that resulted in the man getting fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time.

Barajas’s Ford overturned and collided with Mahoney’s Kia. All the occupants of the vehicles were injured. The investigation is ongoing. It’s currently unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal crash.
