On Wednesday, a 24-year-old Yuba City man died in an auto-pedestrian crash on Carlson Road involving 35-year-old Sergio Garcia Ochoa of Gridley.
The fatal incident happened at around 7:45 a.m. north of O’Banion Road. Responding officers said Ochoa was working on a peach tree shaker and a worker was standing between the work truck and trailer while talking to another worker.
Ochoa got into his 2009 Ford F550 after completing his work and started to drive away while another worker asked him to stop driving. Ochoa came out of his vehicle and found that he had hit one of the workers who was standing between his truck and trailer.
Emergency crews declared the Yuba City man deceased at the scene due to blunt force trauma. The authorities will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. No arrests have been made as of this moment.
The events that led up to the crash remains under active investigation.
