24-Year-Old Austin Winters Killed In A Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash In Smith County (Smith County, TX)

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Saturday in Smith County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.

Authorities stated that the collision occurred on County Road 413, northwest of Tyler. The driver of a 2002 GMC Envoy was travelling southbound when he went off the roadway. Subsequently, he struck a culvert and a metal pole fence.

The driver was identified as 24-year-old Austin Winters. Winters was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Other insights pertaining to the accident are yet to be determined. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. 

The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
