A tragic hit-and-run unfolded on eastbound I-10 near 40th Street just before 6:30 a.m. on Monday. It resulted in the death of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Alejandra Lopez.
According to troopers, Lopez was walking in the construction area on the freeway when she was struck by at least three drivers. Unfortunately, she was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash. One of the drivers fled after the collision, prompting an ongoing search by the authorities.
The car involved in the hit-and-run has been located, but the driver remains at large. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) is actively investigating the incident.
Notably, DPS has not identified a known address for Lopez, adding an element of complexity to the investigation. No other details pertaining to the hit-and-run accident is available at this time.
