A 23-year-old Oakland woman lost her life in a tragic collision on Wednesday morning at the intersection of 16th Street and Mandela Parkway. The multi-vehicle accident occurred just before 11 a.m.
A Ford Fusion, reportedly stolen earlier that day, and driven by a 34-year-old Oakland man, collided with a Honda sedan. The Ford, allegedly involved in a hit-and-run moments prior, was speeding eastbound on 16th Street when the collision transpired.
The Honda driver, sadly, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old passenger and the Ford’s driver were transported to the hospital. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The man, expected to face charges including vehicular manslaughter and DUI, will be arrested upon release. The intersection was a fatal crash for hours during police investigations.
