The Longview Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Saturday. The accident occurred in the 400 block of West Methvin Street at around 2 a.m.
According to the officials, a black Dodge Charger was speeding southbound on West Methvin Street when it failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. It then crashed into a brick building.
There were three occupants in the vehicle. The front passenger, identified as 23-year-old Sydney Van Rijn, was critically injured in the fatal crash and rushed to a local hospital. She succumbed to her injuries, however, and was pronounced dead.
The other occupants of the vehicle were also taken to a local hospital for treatment. They have not been identified at this time.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested for driving under the influence and intoxication manslaughter.
