The Oakland Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred in the area of 16th Street and Mandela Parkway at around 10:45 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. A blue Ford Fusion was fleeing the scene of another crash and sped past two stop signs before crashing into another vehicle. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to crash into another two and then a fence.
The driver of the second vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials identified her to be 23-year-old Samrawit Abbadura. The driver of the other vehicle was not majorly injured.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The officials confirmed that the driver of the first vehicle was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
