The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in San Marcos on Thursday morning. The accident occurred on Deer Springs Road, west of Interstate 15 in the Mesa Rock area at around 5:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a BMW 330ci was headed east on Deer Springs Road when the driver lost control. This caused it to veer into the path of a Toyota Tacoma pickup that was headed in the opposite direction. The two vehicles crashed.
The driver of the BMW was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
