The San Antonio Police Department reported a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 10 on December 22. The accident occurred around midnight on the Interstate 10 exit ramp to South New Braunfels Avenue on the city’s East Side.
According to the ME, Upton may have purposefully walked into traffic. The driver who hit him fled the scene of the crash. A second driver, who also hit Upton, stopped and reported the crash to 911.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
