According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported in Hartley County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.

Authorities stated that the collision occurred six miles southwest of Dalhart on US 87. The driver of a Ford F-250 was travelling at a very high speed and subsequently struck a Nissan Altima.

The passenger in the Altima, identified as 23-year-old Brett Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the Altima, identified as Anna Agosto, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
