The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in Murrieta.
The driver overturned after leaving the southbound I-15 at California Oaks Road because he was unable to navigate a curve in the road. Trayvon Ford, 22, of Los Angeles, and a second man were thrown from the SUV.
Ford was taken to Inland Valley Medical Centre in Wildomar and passed away later. The other person is expected to recover.
Following the 120 mph chase and crash at I-15 and California Oaks Road in Murrieta, Timmy Lee Johnson Jr., 23, of Lancaster was detained on Saturday.
Johnson is accused of felony evading, hit-and-run causing great bodily injury, causing a fatal crash that resulted in a serious injury or death, and leaving the scene of a crime in addition to the manslaughter count.
