The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Dublin last week. The accident occurred on Interstate 580, near Eden Canyon Road between Castro Valley and Dublin at around 2:36 a.m.
According to the officials, a man was standing outside a 2021 Ford E-Transit van when he was hit by a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Chevrolet had veered onto the right shoulder where the Ford was.
The man who was hit was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the victim as 22-year-old Mario Nunez.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
