22-year-old man seriously injured after getting struck by a car on the I-8 in El Cajon (El Cajon, CA)

A 22-year-old man, who ran out of gas on Interstate 8 in El Cajon, suffered injuries after getting struck by a car on Sunday.

As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian accident took place at around 5:45 p.m. on I-8 near Mollison Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that the man’s 2002 gold Buick ran out of fuel as a result of which the vehicle stopped in the middle of the right hand lane of east Interstate 8. The man came out of his car and was near the hood.

At that time, a 32-year- old woman driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra, heading eastbound in the same lane, failed to stop and hit the Buick from behind, hitting the man. On arrival, medics rushed the Buick driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Hyundai cooperated with the officers. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
