On Sunday morning, a 22-year-old man, from Auburn, lost his life following a single-vehicle accident on northbound I-5 near Southcenter Mall.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place on northbound Interstate 5; just south of I-405 at about 8 a.m. The early reports showed that the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling at a high rate of speed on northbound I-5. An officer attempted to catch up the vehicle and the driver made a sudden lane change.
Just then, the car crashed into the left side Jersey barrier. The driver, a 22-year-old Auburn man, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
