The Riverside Police Department reported a solo motor vehicle crash that killed a person and left another injured in Riverside on Wednesday.
A vehicle driving the wrong way on the westbound road of Victoria Avenue lost control of the vehicle and collided with a palm tree in the centre median. The passenger of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Joanna Huizar, was declared dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver of the vehicle endured severe injuries and was transported to the hospital.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
