The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Freestone County on Monday morning. The accident occurred on Interstate 45 near Buffalo at around 2:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. A pickup truck was headed south on the highway when it drifted onto the right shoulder of the roadway. This caused the vehicle to roll over several times before coming to a rest.
The driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was thrown off. This caused him to incur fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have identified him as 22-year-old Jesus Rebollo.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
