21-year-old Santiago N Torres-Martinez dead after a single-car crash in Cherokee County (Rusk, TX)

Authorities identified 21-year-old Santiago N Torres-Martinez, of Alto, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident on Saturday in Cherokee County.

The fatal car crash took place on US-69 about five miles south of Rusk. According to the investigation reports, the man, identified as Santiago N Torres-Martinez, was heading south on US-69 in a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe when his car traveled across the center median for undetermined reasons.

The driver overcorrected as a result of which the car drifted off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The man succumbed to his injuries after the collision. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
