A tragic motor vehicle accident unfolded along the North Freeway on Sunday, resulting in the death of a passenger ejected from a car hood. The Houston Police Department reported that 21-year-old Thiago Ortega Gamaro was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
At approximately 4:35 a.m., Gamaro was driving a white Honda Accord at high speed with his passenger on the hood. The passenger, also 21 years old and unnamed, was ejected from the vehicle, landing on the ground, and subsequently struck by one or more vehicles, as stated by HPD.
Despite paramedic response, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Gamaro was found to be driving under the influence and has been charged for his involvement in the fatal crash.
